Wonderland

{Sources: google, moi!}

It seems to be getting to the crunchy end of uni; projects are due and exams are looming right around the corner. Yesterday I headed out with a group of uni friends to film for one of our assignments, and a few of the above photos are from a rather well deserved break that we took at a delicious Mexican restaurant. The box of cigarettes are not mine (I don't smoke) but belong to a friend of mine, and they were so pretty I couldn't resist my photographing urge! Seriously, how gorgeous are they?

Later on in the day I went for a walk around Regent's Park, and despite a few unintentional squelches in the mud, it was such a beautiful rendezvous! I'd walked around the park before, but this time I decided to delve in deeper and take paths that I'd never taken before, some that barely even counted as a path (because I'm rebellious like that). As a result, some gems were definitely discovered. As I was walking around, I felt like I was Alice (Alix?) in Wonderland. I was expecting the Cheshire cat to show his face at any given moment in a tree or a shrub or similar natural artefact. There were all kinds of cute little bridges and lakes and there was even a waterfall! This exploration really revealed to me how much I love bridges... There was a super cute one that made me feel like I was even more in a fairytale, and I convinced my friend we should cross it and go through the little wooden picket gate that was on the other side. Through this gate, we ended up on a little island! It was so cute. There were all these little windy paths made from tiny pebbles and beautiful shrubs and strange yet wonderful sculptures. I could only imagine having a little picnic there, or a fairytale-themed shoot. Maybe one day...

In other news, I found my way into a second hand shop today. I wanted to buy so many things, but I resisted... how does one start an online shop? Do I just launch in and take that leap? I don't even know how to alter clothes yet! Ahhh, I've so many things to learn before I even start.

I'm quite excited to learn though :)

Apologies for the lack of outfit/fashion related posts recently, I'll be back on it in my next post.

P.S That super green mossy field pictured above? Yup, it's not a mossy field, but a lake! My friend and I were convinced it was a little patch of super green grass but then thought it was a little too green... and thus threw an innocent coin to reveal that it rippled. Curious.

Second Hand Longing

{Sources: weheartit.com & yours truly}

My body is just aching to go for a second hand shop. I think my past sudden onset of creative-ness in regards to finding vintage gems and possibly starting up a store might actually be a new real want of mine. It's been a few days now and it's still there... something that doesn't always happen with me! All I want to do right now is head off to some wonderful little store and rummage through all the recycled pieces. I want to eyeball them and see if there's some I can improve, some I can alter, turn the pumpkin into a carriage, as they say! I'd head out today but alas, I am stuck inside on a rather miserable day drowning under the weight of all my uni assignments. It's nothing but the good times - hence the above happy face. Hopefully this weekend before I head off to Bath for some fun birthday celebratory times with a friend I'll be able to duck into a store!

Happy Wednesday, friends! x

Summer Lovin'

{Source: weheartit.com}

Today was a very rainy day here in London. I was curled up in bed, looking out my window at the rain falling outside with my hands curled around a mug of steaming green tea to help give me warmth. Usually I love moments like this. Before I moved here, that kind of cozy moment is what spurred me on the most when it came to moving here. I thought I wouldn't mind the weather because in my mind, being lazy, snuggly and warm on an overcast drizzly day was the dream. It was totally opposite to being a sweaty uncomfortable mess in the heat at home! But today I found myself missing the Aussie summer, which was probably brought on by my friend's posts on facebook of them enjoying the warmer weather.

I lay in bed dreaming of all the things I used to do when summer rolled around in my dear hometown of Perth. All I wanted was to go on a spontaneous picnic with friends in the sunshine at the gorgeous park right around the corner from where I lived. I wanted to do silly things like attempt to cartwheel and climb trees and blow dandelions into the wind as if I were 7 again. I wanted to go on a long car ride with friends, the windows down, my hair whipping about my face and the radio blasting our favourite music as we sang along at the top of our lungs. I wanted to frolic along the beach and wind down the day with some fish and chips and a gelato as we watched the sun go down over the ocean.

These images in my mind really got my inspiration going for what I want to do with my life. Obviously, writing will always be a part of my life and this little bloggy is a great medium for that! Fashion is definitely a main player as well. But, my creative side really got going today and I started thinking about the possibility of creating clothes. Maybe not quite from scratch, but to find vintage pieces or clothes from second hand stores that I could fix into something amazing. I could start my own little store! Maybe. I'd need to obtain a few skills first, like learning to sew... I'd say that's quite an important skill to have. But perhaps once I finish my current film degree that's the path I'll follow? Or maybe I'll give it a whirl these coming chrissie holidays and see what happens! Either way, I am desperately feeling the need to create. Something with cutting or sewing or beading or anything along those lines! Mind you, this is a feeling that just hit me today. Let's see how I feel tomorrow! It might hit me that I'm an actual crazy lady and I don't know how to handle a needle and thread properly or anything to do with fixing up clothes. However, I did create some interesting bracelets when I was little made of safety pins and beads... I guess that's something. I could progress on that?

Little Brown Fox

My first outfit post! I was feeling very casual on this overcast Saturday, so I opted for something simple and comfortable. Converse are probably the most comfortable shoes I own (that are acceptable in public... don't know how well my ugg boots would go down!) and were perfect for prancing around in all day. When I put this outfit together, I envisioned myself frolicking through the leaves and kicking them about as if I were a little child again...  which might have something to do with the brown autumn tones of my backpack as well as the fact that it's a fox. Embracing my inner child! I should also mention that my jumper is leather, everything but the sleeves! Cool, right?

I don't want to bore with too much writing, but I also want to talk a bit about this blog and what I've set out to do. First things first, I love fashion and see it forever in my future. I'm excited to get this blog on the road not only to see my fashion journey but also to see my physical and, in a way, life journey. As of right now, I'm on a bit of a weight loss quest, and I hope that as time progresses I'll be able to see my transformation in the photos! Bring on the future :)

Italian Vibes

[Sources: garrypeppergirl.com, weheartit.com]

I found myself watching Eat, Pray, Love for the first time the other day, and ever since then it's safe to say I've had a bit of an infatuation with Italian culture. I don't know if it's the insanely blue waters, the pasta, the fun and lively people... I've been feeling all the Italian vibes! Not to mention, after watching the movie and browsing a few of my favourite fashion bloggers the next morning, I saw that Nicole Warne had put up some photos of her trip to Italy [see some above]. I took it as a sign. I've had my first few lessons of the language, and I'm dreaming of the day I finally find myself prancing around the streets of Venice and eating Spaghetti in Rome. I have a trip planned to travel around Europe in the middle of next year with some friends, so that will be the time. I plan to be fluent by then. Challenge accepted.

P.S I will hopefully be making my first outfit post sometime next week! Stay tuned ;)

Head Gear

Hats, beanies, scarves... I never was a fan of putting anything atop my head as I was always worried about obtaining the dreaded "hat hair" [cue: horror music]. But now, if you asked who was any-form-of-head-gear's biggest fan, I would raise my hand in an instant. I have boarded this train and I don't see myself hopping off at any point soon! That piece sitting upon your head can absolutely make an outfit, plus hats and beanies can be quite practical in certain weather conditions. A win-win in my eyes!
